DRAVIT xx DETAIL DESCRIPTION

DRAVITES are brown MAGNESIUM TURMALINE , which were first described in 1883 by the Austrian scientist Prof. Tschermak. These MAGNESIUM TURMALINE became a worldwide RARITY and presented in all museums and exhibitions. The TURMALING GROUP, unknown until this time, was named after the place where it was found, which lies near the DRAU river. The site is located on the territory of the Republic of Slovenia – directly on the southern border of Carinthia. The DRAU (flows through Carinthia and Slovenia to the Danube) is called DRAVE in Slovenia – hence the name DRAVIT and this is valid WORLDWIDE for this TURMALINE VARIETY. No new pieces of this TYPLOCALITY have appeared for 40 years, we have been able to acquire several from a well-known mineral collector and will present them here little by little. Collectors should grab it quickly – no one has anything to offer – and we also have only a few pieces. Place of discovery: DOBROVA – DRAVOGRAD (UNTERDRAUBURG) – now SLOVENIA before 1918 AUSTRIA.
