DRAVIT xx – Type locality

Very many yellow-orange DRAVIT crystals in silvery shiny MUSCOVIT matrix

TOP RARITY of type locality

DRAVITE are MAGNESIUM TURMALINE

First described by the Austrian scientist Prof. Tschermak in 1883- This hitherto unknown tourmaline group was a mineralogical sensation and was presented worldwide at exhibitions and museums. The first site is also the type locality and lies in the outermost southeast of Carinthia – here the river DRAU flows towards the Danube and the Black Sea – the site is today on the territory of the Rep. Slovenia and there is the river DRAVE – hence the name. No new finds have appeared here for more than 40 years. Xx
