EKLOGIT of the SAUALPE type

Kupplerbrunn is the historically documented type locality, according to the French geologist HAüY, on the Saualpe in eastern Carinthia.

EKLOGITE is a relatively rare metamorphic rock with the main constituents GRANATE (mixed crystals of ALMANDINE, PYROP, SPESSARTINE and ANDRADITE) and PYROXENE. Minor components are DISTHEN(CIANYT),QUARZ,KARINTHIN, ZOISIT
