Heliotrope – Chalcedony rough stone

Heliotrope is an opaque chalcedony.

The green color is from hornblend deposits – the red lines and speckles are from iron oxide.

Very sharp fracture edges – these chalcedony were used in early times, similar to flint as weapons and tools.

The names often used in esotericism, such as blood jasper, Hildegard jasper, etc., are of course incorrect, since heliotrope is NOT jasper.

Rough stones are rarely seen in recent years.

This rough stone is cut on one side – NOT polished.
