Hüttenberg “AMETHYST”

HüttenbergER “AMETHYST” was the name given to these pieces by the miners at that time.

AMETHYST as such is of course not!

The small, clear quartz crystals get this bluish-violet color through the layers of blue CHALCEDON on which they are grown.

The parent rock is SIDERITE – brown ironstone, iron ions give the otherwise white CHALCEDON its bluish colour.

Old piece from mining operations that closed back in the 1970s.

Weight: 390 g Dimensions: 9 x 6 x 6 cm
