Ocean Chalcedony

Decades ago this material was offered as “Ocean Jasper”.

In fact it was right though Chalcedony with circular spherulites.

The source for these varieties has long been exhausted.

New material from this area is now more like jasper, i.e. coarse and opaque and the typical spherulites can hardly be seen or are missing at all.

This exceptionally large plate dates from the year 2000 is polished on both sides and is very difficult to get in this quality.
