Tiger iron, rough stone

Tiger iron is a mixture of minerals made up of the following components:

Brown jasper

Gold-shining tiger eye and

black, shiny metallic veins of magnetite.

These iron strip ores emerged from submarine volcanoes more than 2 BILLION years ago. The other components did not form until more than a BILLION years LATER.

The piece comes from the BANDET IRON MINE in TRANSVAAL – SOUTH AFRICA
