The world's best magnetite crystals come from the mines at Cerro Huanaquino in Potosi - BOLIVIA.
Magnetite is an IRON OXIDE with the formula Fe3O4 - the crystals are naturally magnetic and show predominantly OKTAEDER shapes, iron-black luster with partly blue tarnish colors.
The melting point is 1,527 degrees C.
The individual crystals sit on quartzPORPHYR as the parent rock.
Weight: 520 g Dimensions: 13 x 8 x 4 cm
Picture 4 is the underside. The individual magnetite crystals are all shiny, but in the photos only those that were exactly at the right angle with a smooth surface.
