ALMANDINE GRANETS with translucent RED CRYSTALS.
The specimen is NOT prepared, as is usually the case. This means that the garnet crystals are carved out of the mica schist with gravers.
This specimen is in its original state, the free-standing ALMANDIN crystals are partly covered with aluminum mica. There are still some GRANAT crystals in the slate matrix, but these have not been uncovered.
Old find from the famous ALPIN GRANAT site on the HORNKEES in ZILLERTAL - TIROL
