AMMOLITH is the protected name of Iridescent - opal-like AMMONITES from the Cretaceous period.
The AURORA mine in the province of Alberta in Canada extracts these AMMOLITHES exclusively on the St. Mary River.
The first-class pieces are set as jewelry by top jewelers and sold at really "hefty" prices.
A whole, first-class, approx. 20 cm diameter AMMOLITH can easily cost over 50,000 dollars, if available at all!
This piece, unfortunately not with a special play of colors, can be purchased relatively cheaply.
