The fracture in the upper part of the beryl crystal most probably occurred when the quartz matrix was knocked out of the surrounding rock. The beryls are very hard, 7- 8 Mohs hardness, and therefore sensitive to shocks. Nevertheless, the specimen is ORIGINAL and highly attractive.
