>Blue DISTHEN crystals in EKLOGIT
From the EKLOGIT TYPLOKALITY- Kupplerbrunn and Gertrusk on the SAUALPE in Carinthia.
EKLOGIT is a relatively RARE metamorphic rock, of basaltic (volcanic) origin. EKLOGIT is also evidence of a former ocean - now found at almost 2,000 meters above sea level !
The composition consists of e.g. GRANATE, quartz, DISTHEN, RUTIL, TITANITE, PYRITE and lithium-rich GLIMMER.
The EKLOGIT of the SAUALPE is approx. 270 million years old.
These crystals are found above the Steiner Hütte in large EKLOGIT blocks. Unfortunately, everything is quite overgrown, which makes finding the DISTHENE not exactly easy.
