Heliotrope is an opaque chalcedony.
The green color is from hornblend inclusions - the red lines and speckles are from iron oxide.
Very sharp fracture edges - these chalcedonies were used as weapons and tools in early times, similar to flint.
The terms often used in esotericism, such as blood jasper, Hildegard jasper, etc., are of course not correct, as heliotrope is NOT jasper.
Rough stones have only rarely been seen in recent years.
This rough stone is cut on one side - NOT polished.
