The national stone of Chile is also known as the "blue gold" of the Andes.
In contrast to the famous LAPISLAZULI from Afghanistan, Lapis PYRITE is much rarer in Chile. In addition, the color is somewhat different and the gray mineral wollastonite is found in sometimes larger proportions. White calcite is also an accompanying mineral.
