In brief:
Bleiberg/Kreuth - mining since the 14th century. The first documented mining of lead ore dates back to 1333.
Mining the ores in tunnels and shafts with a Total length of 1,300 kilometers.
In 1785, Franz Xaver Freiher von Wulfen first described this yellow lead ore as "Kärntner Bleyspath" - the mineral was later named after Wulfen.
Mining ceased in 1986 - making new discoveries impossible.
This magnificent piece was salvaged in the 1970s
