Mookaite is a mineral mixture of CHALCEDON - FIRESTONE and OPALITE
The name is derived from the place where it was found: MOOKA CREEK. In the language of the Australian aborigines, "MOOKA" means "flowing water". There are several fresh water springs in this area - which are rare in the notoriously extremely dry OUTBACK.
The only place in the world where mookaite is found is about 1,000 km from the Western Australian capital PERTH.
Kennedy Ranges - Gascoyne Junction
The material is proven to be over 1 MILLION years old.
