Large crystal specimen of a quartz variety that is not seen very often.
Natural CITRIN is actually nothing more than rock crystal - the yellow color is due to aluminum ions built into the quartz lattice. This constellation is apparently not very common, which is why natural CITRIN is also rare.
For this reason, masses of burnt amethyst (violet color changes at about 500 degrees C into a yellow/orange hue) are offered as "citrine" and you can get it at any fair for a few euros.
