Very nice ROH - tiger iron, cut on one side, not polished.
Banded IRON ORE (magnetite/hematite) - of volcanic origin - sedimentary rock with layered structure formed in the sea or along deep-sea trenches. Magnetite-hematite layers are alternately connected with microcrystalline quartz - in this case jasper layers. KROKYDOLITH (hawk's eye) and then tiger's eye have formed in their cavities from time to time.
The sediment layers with the banded irons were formed
approx. 2.3 BILLION years ago
Bandet Iron Mine - Transvaal - SOUTH AFRICA
Strongly folded by tectonic pressure - very nice to see
The metallic black layers are magnetite-hematite - the jasper is brown and the tiger's eye is shiny gold.
