BLEIBERGER SHELL MARBLE
In 1780, the famous mineralogist and naturalist Franz Xaver von WULFEN (after whom the mineral WULFENIT and a rare flower that only grows in the Himalayas and on the Carinthian Nassfeld, the WULFENIA, were named)
At the time, WULFEN referred to this OPALIZING MUSCHELMARMOR as " KäRNTNER PFAUENSCHWEIFIGER HELMINTHOLITH"
These materials were used to make works of art and jewelry, including for the Russian imperial court.
Just 3 years after the first discovery, the deposit was exhausted and nothing more was ever found.
The OSWALDISTOLLEN was the only site in the very extensive Bleiberger mining district (1,300 kilometers of tunnels!).
We already had a piece for sale once - a little bigger for € 100 - the piece went to Styria (as it turned out later - much too cheap) we still had countless inquiries from all over Europe for this MUSCHELMARMOR.
So, for this, probably the last piece that we have available, we will only set a symbolic price, because due to its rarity, there are no comparable prices anyway, nobody, really nobody has even a small piece to offer. PITY, because as jewelry this would achieve similar prices as the famous AMMOLITHE from the AURORA mine in ALBERTA in CANADA.
