Relatively rare the remains of TREE COLORS can be found among the petrified wood, recognizable by the lighter vascular bundles of the root mantle. The dotted appearance led to the name " STARSTONE " - or " WURMSTEIN " - referring to curved vascular bundle structures and cavities. Particularly good to see in polished cross sections.
The age of these fossilized ferns (the ferns used to be as big as our trees are today) is between 240 - 275 million years. first class, as the bark is still completely intact.
