ZEIRINGITE is the blue-colored variety of the mineral ARAGONITE. It is formed by sintering in copper deposits. Tiny inclusions of AURICHALCITE cause the blue tones.
The place of discovery and at the same time the TYPLOCALITY was the former SILVER mine in Oberzeiring in Styria.
This is a extremely rare mineral and highly sought after by collectors, as mining in Oberzeiring has long since ceased and the later ZEIRINGIT sites in Laurion/Greece and Japan have long ceased to yield new specimens.
